Embedded Board Bring-Up and Verification Checklist
The first power-up of a new board deserves a method. This checklist keeps it safe and productive.
NANOSOFT Engineering Insights

Before power
- Visual inspection for solder bridges and orientation
- Resistance check between supply rails and ground
- Confirm correct assembly variant
First power-up
Use a current-limited bench supply. Increase voltage gradually while watching current. Measure every rail and compare against expected values before proceeding.
Clocks, reset and programming
Verify oscillators, reset behaviour and debugger connection. Load a minimal firmware that toggles a pin — the simplest proof that the MCU is alive.
Peripherals one at a time
Bring up interfaces individually: communication, ADC, outputs, display. Record results and anomalies as you go.
Functional verification
Run test cases derived from the requirements. Note deviations, investigate root causes and feed findings into the next revision.
